The traditional way of making Sabudana Wada is soaking sabudana(sago) in water and mixed with spices and other ingredients to make a dough. The dough is then shaped into small balls or patties and deep-fried until crispy and golden brown.

Ingredients for Our Instant Sabudana Wada -
- Cup Sabudana (Sago)
- Roasted Peanuts 1/2 cup
- medium-sized potatoes (Grate them well)
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped or Red Chilly Powder 1 tea-spoon
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Curd (Dahi) 1/2 cup or Lemon Juice 1 tea-spoon
- Salt to taste Oil for frying
Instructions for Making Sabudana Wada -
Step 1 - Take a cup of sabudana (sago) and half (1/2) a cup of ground. Roast for 10 min. Grind it and make powder. As we are making instant Wada so no need to soak sabudana.
Step 2 - Take medium-sized potatoes and grate them. Add it to the powder sago and mixed it well.
Step 3 - Add chopped chilies or red chilly powder, salt, and cumin seeds.
Step 4 - Add 1/2 cup of curd or 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, mix it well, and let it as it is for 5-1 min.
Step 5 - Heat the pan and add oil for deep fry.
Step 6 - Make small balls of our mixture.
Step 7 - After the oil turns hot add balls at a time and deep fry it.
Step 8 - Stir until balls turn golden brown in color.
Note -
You can serve sabudana wada with green chutney or curd or buttermilk.
Tips -
- Make sure to add peanuts to the sabudana which made your sabudana wada more crispy.
- Make sure the oil is hot before adding the wadas to it to avoid them from becoming soggy.

The answer is NO. As our Sabudana Wada is an instant recipe, so there is no need to soak sabudana. You crushed it mix all the ingredients and after adding cur let it be as it is for 5 min is enough.
Can we shallow fry wada instead of deep fry?
Yes. You can use the frying technique according to you. Because, if you use less oil in your daily lunch/dinner then there are no restrictions for deep frying the wada.
Why does my Sabudana Vada crack in oil?
The sago patties will break in oil if the dough mixture has too much moisture or if the potatoes do not provide enough binding.
